About

Milkweed Colour Farm grows fresh cut flowers, herbs and natural dyes for the North Bay and surrounding regions, inspiring homegrown beauty for special moments. Located in Corbeil Ontario, it was important for the friends to grow a business that returns an ecological and economic benefit to the community they love.

Milkweed (asclepias syriaca), the plant and our namesake, was named for the Greek God of healing in relation to her use in many folk remedies. In addition to being medicinal, many parts of the plant are edible and or can be used as down or fibre. The leaves are the only food source for Monarch butterfly's, while the nectar is an essential food source for native pollinators. The bast fibres can be spun into rope, cord or woven into a rough cloth

Many of the plants grown at Milkweed Colour Farm are also gifted with multiple purposes: colour, medicine and food.
